International Photography Exhibition, Del Mar Fair

This year I decided to enter the International Photography Exhibition at the Del Mar fair. You have to pay for each entry and there are several categories. Each year, a committee of judges go through the images and choose the images that will be displayed in the exhibition, in each respective category. This year, I entered three images, one for Black and White Architecture, one for Creative Photography, and another for Color Architecture. All three of my images were accepted; I couldn't believe it!

There were 3,492 images that were judged and only 1,273 that were accepted. I couldn't believe that along with being accepted, my Black and White Architecture image placed 1st in it's class and my Color Architecture image won an Honorable Mention ribbon. My Color Architecture image, which was an image of Bixby Bridge in Big Sur, actually sold as well. That was the first print I have ever sold, so I was very excited. I was not expecting to get accepted, and definitely didn't expect to win a ribbon, what a wonderful feeling and experience.

I am looking forward to entering in the 2010 International Exhibition.

Del Mar Student Exhibition 2009

This year I had two images in the student section of the photo exhibition. I entered in a Lith Print of a tree I photographed during a morning walk with Sasha in the back "wilderness" of my house; it earned 2nd place. The other image I shot while photographing early morning in Oceanside. I love this image and I am glad that it came out so nice in black and white. That morning started out frustrating because I was ready to shoot, then noticed that I didn't have my memory cards with me. I rushed down to a Rite Aid (goodness!) and bought a CF card, then rushed back to the pier to shoot. This day turned out to be a good one, as I got some incredible shots. This image, "After the Ride" earned 1st place.
